Final Balloon

Today we popped our final balloon since the 2nd graders will be gone tomorrow on a field trip.  Our last activity was lunch in the classroom.  We also listened to some Kidz Bop, and a few students shared their best dance moves with us!  We had so much fun with our balloons!

Balloon 6: Classroom Bumper Seats

Our 6th balloon was classroom bumper seats.  This is the only day of the year that everyone in the class gets to pick their own seat for the entire day.  The kids think this is so fun!

Balloon 5: Treasure Hunt

For our 5th balloon we were lead on a hunt of clues around the school that brought us to our treasure: a new book!  Our treasure was the new Betty Bunny book called "Betty Bunny Wants a Goal."  We love this series!

Balloon 4: Daily 5 Outside!

With today's balloon we went outside to enjoy a round of Daily 5 around the pond.  It is so peaceful to sit out on a beautiful day to read a book or write a story!

Balloon 3: Reading with Kindergarten!

Today we popped balloon number 3!  Inside was the following activity: "Read with a kindergarten buddy and share a treat!"  It is always great to get together with a younger friend and read a story to them!

Balloon 2: Marker Day!

Of course in our classroom the students are expected to use pencil on all of our writing and assignments.  I have this bucket of beautiful, brightly colored markers that the students just love to use.  So on marker day, the students get to pick out a new marker to use on their assignments all day long and keep!  The day went by so fast, I didn't even get pictures of them using their markers, but they find this to be quite the treat!

Balloon #1

In the last 2 weeks of the school year I begin a balloon countdown.  I started this tradition a few years ago, and it is so fun!  It's a great way to celebrate and enjoy a surprise for each day of the end of our school year. We started with 7 balloons hanging from our ceiling, each with a fun surprise inside!  A star is chosen from our bucket, and that student chooses a balloon to pop.  The activity inside is a mystery until the balloon is popped.  The activity today was Gum Day!  Each student got a little baggie of gum to enjoy throughout the day!
